Our Employment Accelerator program is a platform in SMART Liberia’s Changemakers Village that creates a local workforce for the emerging Liberian economy. This program resulted from a survey we conducted with a selected group of local companies through which we found that these companies are reluctant to hire local graduates because they generally lack computer literacy, and the ability to use productivity tools such as Google Suite and MS Office, etc. As such, through tailored training in entrepreneurship and leadership, computer literacy, and exposure to productivity tools such as google suite, asana, slack, etc, we are developing a pipeline of young people who have the technical, social, and critical thinking skills for a changing local/global economy. After the two-months intensive training, fellows will be matched up with job opportunities through an upcoming online job portal.
From the inception of our membership on the GlobalGiving platform, we have raised an amount of $ 6,411 USD, and it's all because of you, our donors. We are incredibly grateful for your support. The money generated was used to equip and provide these young people who are accepted into our program the requisite skills needed to thrive at workplaces. The two months training has been completed, and our fellows are placed on internships for two-months at various institutions that we have secured a partnership agreement with. For the two-months, fellows stayed in our space learning some professional skills that could basically be used in any work environment as well as their personal lives. These skills include: Introduction to MS Office, Google Suite, Leadership & Entrepreneurship training, Global mindset development, Communication and Public speaking skills and Job-readiness skills.
Our fellows are currently exuding the skills they have learned at their places of internship. All Sixteen (16) fellows are placed at ten (10) different institutions. Two of the fellows have earned full employment at BRAC Liberia and AEP Consultancy, Inc. Not only did we send out our fellows for internship, but we have also sent feedback forms to their supervisors to evaluate them and track their progress. At the end of the internship, we expect to have those forms returned to us. After which, our fellows will then graduate from the program. This wouldn't have been possible without your kindness. Thank you for your support towards our organization and your effort to make Liberia better.
