This month seemed favourable as far as recruitment is concerned of PWDs. A total number of 12 persons with disabilities were employed in a sock factory as machine operators and 1 employee selected in Ace Consultant (IT Consultant Agency) in the 2nd week of this month.
2 meetings were held with Sonya Batla (a designer) and Express Tribune; they were positive and encouraging for future hiring of people with disabilities.
August has an average month in term of meeting new Companies. A total number of 3 new companies were met, their names being:
Number of companies met: 5 (planned: 3)
Number of CVs sent: 29 (planned: 20)
Number of applicants commencing employment: 14
Number of candidates selected but not commenced: 0
Due to a slow uptake and unfavourable responses from organisations, NOWPDP will not continue attempting to collect a service fee from employing organisations. Over this trial in the past 6 months, some organisations committed to hiring and paying a service fee, but later backed out. Our feeling is that a greater number of people will be placed into jobs without the service fee, and that NOWPDP will continue to do fundraising to cover operational costs.
