Jobs for 120 people with a disability in Pakistan

March has not been a favourable month in terms of placement. The month was spent in chasing potential new employers and reconnecting with the already existing but dormant or slow paced companies.

Evaluation camps were held for the MR and other disabilities.

A few interviews were held, and candidates were shortlisted but only to start employment from the 1^st of April.

What was achieved this month?

• 3 candidates with intellectual disabilities were selected by Green Fingers (a nursery that hires PWDs)
• 11 candidates were interviewed and 8 were hired to start in April and May.
• A call centre outsourcing company was contacted, and they will be holding a week’s training for the visually impaired call centre representatives.

What are we proud of?

• 3 candidates with intellectual disabilities have completed their internship successfully at Gul Ahmed and have been offered regular employment

What companies did we meet, or that agreed to take PWDs?

• Green fingers was approached and the outcome was positive leading to the employment of 3 PWDs
• Catcos - a call centre outsourcing company was contacted and they chose to run a training course free of cost for 20 visually impaired and physically challenged candidates

Monthly Goals:

• Number of companies met: 2 (planned 4)
• Number of applicant CVs sent to employers: 37 (planned 20)
• Number of applicants selected but not started: 14
• Number of applicants that commenced employment: 0 (planned: 10)

Project Goal Update:

• To date, 30 out of the goal of 60 people with disabilities have been placed in jobs. NOWPDP is striving to place the remaining 30 and remain within the quoted budget (since we have been consistently under-spending).
• We intend to extend the project for another 6 months (and hence add an additional 60 placements to the target), and will be updating the fundraising goal accordingly. If you would like to support this project for the coming months, we would welcome the donations!
• Based on the spending for the past 6 months, we have reduced the budget slightly. For 6 months, the expected cost is an additional US$4859 (previous was US$5428 - budget is attached), which has been reflected in the fundraising goal.
