Newly installed computer laboratory at the Aboantem Basic School

Aboantem basic school at the Bosomtwe district in the Ashanti region of Ghana can now boast of a newly installed computer laboratory. After several weeks of preparation and anticipation from the students, Aboantem community, teachers and the entire Bosomtwe district, our team landed finally at the school premises for the installation.

The students couldn’t hide their joy of finally receiving computers to enable them prepare for their ICT external examinations that required practical training (using of the computer) as well as theoretical sections at the school premises.

Our team touched base with a few of the students and their head teacher and the following are their comments;

“My name is Moses, a final year student of Aboantem basic School, I wish I will not go home today, words alone cannot express my joy of finally having computers in this very school. Now l can confidently prepare very well for my impending Basic Education Certificate Examination come April, 2019. He said with a big smile that ‘I will surely pass with better grades compared to my seniors”

“My name is Comfort, a first year student of Aboantem basic school. I must say I am blessed to be part of this school now. As a new student, it is a great opportunity for me to prepare very well during my three year stay here. I hope to be a system developer in future and l believe this is the right beginning.

 "Cynthia is my name and the head teacher of Aboantem basic school. I must say that we are very happy and we can assure you of better ICT external examinations result in the next academic year."

UPDATES FROM THE TEACHER TRAINING.

Basic troubleshooting and maintenance of our computers are actually happening at the various schools with joy. The trained teachers’ area able to handle minor faults and only request for help when it’s a major fault. The teachers are calling for more training to be able to handle all faults. So our team is preparing to organise one week long training for all our ICT teachers.

These projects and all the work of the Turing Trust would not be possible without the generous donations. Thank you very much for everything that has been contributed, we and all of the students are very grateful.
