Project Report | Jun 2, 2020
Response in times of crisis

By Karolina Rojas Kolomiets | Alliances Director

In each project we have implemented response measures that allow us to reach our target population, and continue to impact youth from our 3 axes of action: student exclusion, employability and peaceful coexistence.

As a preventive measure by COVID-19, educational centers closed their doors from March 17, 2020; for this reason, FAJ designed a “complementary plan for response to the COVID-19 situation” of virtual sessions, audiovisual material on social networks and online platforms that allow support in the new challenges that educational centers in the network face. .

This complementary plan focuses on two lines:
1.Strategy for the prevention of student exclusion during the distance learning process in context COVID-19.
2.Motivation and emotional support strategy for the educational community during the distance learning course in context COVID-19.

The content of the plan was generated thanks to regular communication with the educational centers that make up the CAO network and with the Unit for Permanence, Reincorporation and Educational Success of the MEP.

Likewise, the methodological approach of the activities that will be carried out throughout the year is being adjusted, under a virtual-face-to-face mixed approach, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health.

“In these times of crisis, a greater commitment and conviction are required in generating alternative solutions to the new emerging, reinventing and innovating in the process, but maintaining our focus on accompanying educational communities through collaborative work and construction group in the country challenge of 100% student permanence. ” - Kristy Crawford Castro, Program Manager for High Opportunity Schools
