We are grateful that you are standing with Ukraine, and we would like to share what your support has made possible.
Long power outages, cold weather and the ongoing war continue to make daily life hard for Ukrainian communities, especially for families with children, elderly residents and people with limited mobility. Thanks to your donations, two local community foundations were able to respond to urgent needs in their communities: Snovsk (Chernihiv Region) and Zhytomyr.
Snovsk: warmth and light for families in need
In Snovsk, the community foundation purchased and distributed essential items for residents hit hardest by blackouts. These included power banks, rechargeable lamps and electric blankets, as well as warm clothing and diapers for families with children and adult diapers for people who need constant care. In total, 52 people received direct support, and around 100 more benefited indirectly, including family members.
These items may seem simple, but during blackouts they become essential for safety and dignity. They help families stay in touch with loved ones, keep their homes lit and warm, and make everyday care for children and immobile relatives a little easier. Families told us how relieved they felt to receive this support.
Zhytomyr: a community hub that keeps working during blackouts
In Zhytomyr, the community foundation runs an open community hub used by local civic organizations, volunteers, journalists, internally displaced people and residents who come for advice and support. With your help, the foundation purchased a generator, a solar panel, two portable power stations and other equipment to keep the space running during long power outages.
Your donations allowed both foundations to act quickly and effectively at a critical time, strengthening trust within their communities and their capacity to respond to emergencies. Your support is not just about supplies. It is about warmth, safety and hope.
Thank you for your contribution and for standing with Ukraine.
Warmly,
National Network of Local Philanthropy Development
