Millions of people are leaving their homes on Middle East escaping from the war and disaster. They are travelling thousands of miles on their path to better life, and Serbia is one of the transit countries and last before they enter the EU. Since January 2015, over 100.000 forced migrants have entered Serbia. Throughout the country, families with their children spending days and nights on the open space, in the field, but soon coming the cold days, and that will not be possible any more.
Thousands of families are still coming trough Serbia on their way to EU. After crisis in the summer conditions, we are facing humanitarian crisis in winter time. Now, it is urgent to provide food, winter clothes, blankets and hygienic packages to families who are living in miserable conditions. Our mobile teams are delivering all those goods every day and we need support to enable continuous support during winter period. We need support for medical teams which presence on the field is 24/7.
According to the estimates of the expert services in the field, at this moment, for these people, it is most urgent to provide food, hygienic packages and winter clothes. The most difficult situation is in Presevo and Adasevci where migrants are centering and leaving Serbian borders and these are two focal points where our mobile teams provide support to refugee families.
Local authorities are facing an emerging crisis as it is very difficult to care for the growing masses of exhausted, hungry, and injured refugees making the arduous journey to hoped-for asylum. There are no indicators that the influx of migrants will slow down in the following months; everyday delivery of the food, winter clothes and medical support is vital and it will ease migrant crisis.
