We are delighted to share the official launch of our new project in Córdoba, Colombia, an initiative that brings together culture, psychosocial support, and community resilience to help children, young people, and families recover from the impact of recent natural disasters.
The launch event marked an exciting first step in a project that aims not only to respond to immediate needs but also to create lasting opportunities for the community. A highlight of the day was a Paz a la Mochila (Peace Backpack) session, where children took part in creative activities designed to strengthen emotional wellbeing, build resilience, and promote peaceful relationships. Through play, art, and reflection, participants explored ways to express their emotions and support one another, demonstrating the power of creativity in times of uncertainty.
Over the coming months, the project will focus on restoring an important cultural centre that serves as a safe gathering place for children, young people, and families. Once restored, this space will become a hub for arts, education, community events, and psychosocial activities, helping rebuild not only infrastructure but also hope, connection, and a sense of belonging.
Alongside the restoration work, the project will provide support to families affected by the devastating floods and other natural disasters that have impacted the region. By combining emergency assistance with long-term community development, we aim to help families recover while creating stronger protective environments for children and young people.
The launch was made even more special by the participation of Colombian singer and social advocate Adriana Lucía, whose longstanding commitment to her home region reflects the spirit of the project: communities coming together to create positive change.
This initiative is built on the belief that recovery is about more than rebuilding physical spaces. It is about restoring opportunities, strengthening communities, and ensuring that children and young people have safe places where they can learn, create, and thrive. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the launch of this project. Your generosity is helping transform a challenging moment into an opportunity for renewal, resilience, and hope for the communities of Córdoba.
