This project will help to provide a safe haven for domestic violence survivors and their children escaping violence in their homes. It will provide them with the critical resources necessary to immediately flee a violent situation.
One in four women throughout the world will experience domestic violence at some point during their lifetime. On average, every 17 minutes in the District of Columbia, the Metropolitan Police Department receives a call due to an incidence of domestic violence. This project will positively benefit more than 100 families throughout the Metropolitan area that are in need of immediate relief.
This project will respond to the needs of domestic violence survivors and their children who must immediately flee their homes because of violence. The resources will provide them with shelter, a safe haven and the tools necessary to begin rebuilding their lives.
We will provide immediate, emergency support for hundreds of families whose safety is contingent upon them leaving their homes. As a result of this project, lives will ultimately be saved.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
