Status Report on Emergency Reponse

Village Initiative for Empowerment of Women (VIEW) has planned to help 1000 flood affected families in Northern Bangladesh who have lost their homes or livelihoods. Assistance will be offered to the most affected people in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram District in Bangladesh.  The assistance includes multipurpose cash grants to those eligible as such they can restore their normal lives.  Recipients will be able to use the cash grants to purchase essential items to meet their daily needs.

After go backed to home they Dried out and cleaned up the affected areas. Restore the utilities such as food to eat, rebuilding the collapsed houses and normal livelihood. Their sufferings started when they lost crops to early floods towards the beginning of April, 2023. In mid-May, 2023 flood water reached their homes too. And in the middle of June, all of their belongings got washed away in the floods.

Challenges:

Now, when the flood water has almost fully receded, the victims have started returning home. They are now looking for ways to get back to their old lives and livelihoods. Flood-affected people from Kurigram and Lalmonirhat said, alongside the government people from all across the country came forward with relief. But, only relief won’t be suffice for moving on with their lives. Now, they require financial aid for rehabilitation. These farmers won’t be able to bounce back without the help of government or assistance from multi-stakeholders.

Urge for income and employment generation

The people in the proposed regions have survived the initial crisis after receiving relief. Now, they have returned to their own houses to start normal life. It’s very challenging for them to availed daily work or employments because of poverty stricken areas. The flood has threatened people’s occupation too. They are extremely needed cash grants to start business or small trade.

Conclusion and appeal: Solution

Till the reporting period we received very limited donation which is very negligible amount in terms of demands and has been delivered for food to maintain their daily lives. They will get hope and opportunity to fulfill their rights for survival, development, protection and participation the project trying make a difference today. 100% of your donation goes to the children .We are also looking for new sponsor, donors or and individuals who are wishes to help us for project is continues supporting us to raising funds and connecting multi stakeholders.

This project would not have been possible to reap expected outcome as setouts in the project without the kind support and help of donors, friends and any individuals. To support the project fund raising is continued and we hope that all the people who have willingly would like to extend their support to the project is highly appreciated. Their generosity will make a huge difference in the lives of many orphan children.
