Village Initiative for Empowerment of Women (VIEW) has planned to help 1000 flood affected families in Northern Bangladesh who have lost their homes or livelihoods. Assistance will be offered to the most affected people in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram District in Bangladesh. The assistance includes multipurpose cash grants to those eligible as such they can restore their normal lives.. Recipients will be able to use the cash grants to purchase essential items to meet their daily needs.
Lalmonirhat and Kurigram Districts, rendering several thousand people marooned. In Lalmonirhat, some 5,000 people have been marooned as the low-lying areas were inundated due to the incessant rainfall for the last two days .Some fresh areas have been flooded in the district as the Teesta River was flowing 20 centimeter above its danger level causing immense sufferings to the river banks people. In Kurigram, flood situation worsened again due to swelling of the major Rivers Dharla and Dhutkumar.

The floods actually help the farmers by depositing fertile silt and this enables them to grow rice, sugar, jute and other crops. Bangladesh is predominantly an agricultural country together with livestock, poultry, fisheries and forestry and where lives and livelihood depend on this for food security and employment. Asset-transfer are predominantly are the better strategy for providing humanitarian assistance as such the affected people will be abled to restore their normal lives.
