Happy Wednesday Our Fabulous Supporters!
Is time flying for anyone else this year? Well things have been very exciting on the ground over the last few months, although like anything we have also hit a few challenges that make our commitment and work much more exciting day to day!
Let's start with the good stuff. We have now trained 60 community health workers! That is 60 more people out in these communities who can spot health issues early, respond quickly, and look after their neighbours long before anything turns into a crisis. Every single one of them brings us closer to the self reliant future we have been building toward.
Now for the honest bit, because we always keep it real with you. Clinic supplies are still a struggle. We are working hard on finding a proper long term solution instead of relying on one off donations to keep the shelves stocked, and this quarter has really shown us how urgent that work is.
Here is a good example of why. Communities living in the jungle in Guatemala have historically never had to deal with cold or flu, but as more tourists visit the region, new viruses are being introduced and these communities are now getting sick with illnesses their bodies have never fought before. They need proper support with medication, and it is a good reminder that this work never really stands still. New challenges keep popping up, and we need to keep pace with them.
On the brighter side, our infrastructure work is powering ahead. We are currently building 4 aquaponics farms and 1 vegetable garden, which means these communities will have a lasting, reliable source of fresh food instead of depending on outside deliveries. This is exactly the kind of permanent, long term fixture we told you we were working toward, not a quick fix but something that will benefit these families for years to come.
We still have plenty to tackle, especially around clinic supplies and getting medication support to places like Guatemala. But every worker trained and every farm built gets us one step closer to communities who can look after their own health and their own future without waiting for the next emergency.
Thank you for sticking with us through this next chapter. Building real resilience takes longer than responding to a crisis, but with you behind us, we get to keep doing it properly.
Until next time!
