Dear friends, donors, and interested people,
Over the years this has been a cornerstone project tackling one of the biggest issues our environment faces. Whilst beach cleanups and ocean plastic removal projects are still happening all the time, we're temporarily shifting the focus of this project to a new angle of biodiversity improvement.
As well as plastic pollution, marine species face major habitat loss. To combat this we are introducing a new project in Cape Town called Africa's First Living Seawall; the aim is to implement 100 3D-printed specialised habitat panels onto a harbour wall in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town. These will be situated in the intertidal zone of the harbour, creating rock pools when the tide goes out which act as habitats for marine specie such as seaweed and crustaceans. This leads to a biodiversity ripple effect, attracting more and more species to the area which will hopefully return the environment to its natural healthy state.
