With your help and our operational expertise Trans Rescue will provide emergency rescue to a safe location, assist with travel documents, provide transport tickets, visa support, medical care, short term safe housing, security coordination, pre and post extraction psycho-social support, and assistance in integrating in their new society for 5 trans people.
In Middle East and North Africa coming out often means imprisonment or death. Parents in some places will kill their trans family members to "defend the family honor". In the past family members have hunted our rescue-ees literally to the other side of the Earth. The state assists the family, not the Trans person. While many organizations will help once the person is out, few help them get to safety.
Trans Rescue helps the trans person come to live in a safer place. This project provides rapid, discreet rescue and safe relocation for 5 trans gender people facing immediate danger. Funds support emergency transport, temporal housing, basic needs and coordinated case management to move people out of harm and into safety as quickly as possible. 2500$ will fund a rescue. It saves one life.
Our work fundamentally changes the life of every person we help. No one can advocate for change there without deadly risk. Rescue-ees become the most powerful possible advocates for change at home. Governments must explain their treatment of trans people when a rescue-ee says "I fled from you". Our rescue-ees do have friends and neighbors at home. Each has to examine their part in making their neighbor flee.
