During this reporting period, Meseret Humanitarian Organization (MHO) was deeply grateful to receive a donation of US$0.58 through the project Emergency Relief4Rural Ethiopia Landslide Victims. Although the financial contribution received during this period was very small, its meaning extends far beyond its monetary value. It represents compassion, solidarity, and a shared commitment to standing with vulnerable communities affected by devastating landslides in rural Ethiopia. Every contribution is an important expression of hope and reminds disaster-affected families that they have not been forgotten during a period of profound loss and hardship.
The landslides have caused significant loss of life, displacement, destruction of homes and livelihoods, and disruption of access to essential services. Many affected families continue to face urgent needs, including access to food, safe drinking water, medical care, temporary shelter, hygiene supplies, and protection services. Children, pregnant women, new mothers, older people, and families who have lost their homes or sources of income remain particularly vulnerable. The scale of the humanitarian crisis has created continuing challenges for communities seeking to recover and rebuild their lives with dignity and security.
Because the donation received during this reporting period was US$0.58, it was combined with MHO’s limited organizational resources, the efforts of volunteers, and support mobilized through local community networks. Through this collective approach, MHO continued its emergency relief and humanitarian response activities and remained committed to identifying urgent needs and supporting vulnerable women, children, and families affected by the disaster. The contribution helped sustain MHO’s ability to continue responding to humanitarian needs while working with local communities and volunteers to strengthen solidarity, resilience, and recovery.
During this reporting period, MHO also continued to monitor the humanitarian situation and assess emerging needs among disaster-affected communities. Our response remains focused on supporting the safety, dignity, and well-being of vulnerable people, particularly women and children who may experience increased risks during displacement and recovery. While the resources available remain limited in relation to the scale of need, MHO continues to use available support responsibly and to prioritize assistance for those facing the greatest hardship.
The story of the landslide-affected communities is one of both devastating loss and remarkable resilience. Families who have experienced displacement and uncertainty continue to work toward rebuilding their lives, often with the support of neighbors, volunteers, and humanitarian organizations. MHO recognizes that recovery is not achieved through financial resources alone. It also depends on compassion, community participation, local solidarity, and sustained support. Each contribution, regardless of its size, becomes part of a broader collective effort to restore hope and help affected families move toward recovery.
MHO sincerely thanks all GlobalGiving donors and supporters for standing in solidarity with vulnerable women, children, and families facing crisis in Ethiopia. Your generosity demonstrates that every gift has value and that even a small contribution can strengthen a larger humanitarian response when combined with community support, volunteer commitment, and organizational resources.
