We have been renovating two kindergartens

Some schools and kindergartens in Ukraine have not yet opened, even though the new school year started in September, because the buildings and school equipment were damaged by Russian attacks. Peace Winds Japan has been renovating two kindergartens so that children can come back soon.

We have been working on Kindergarten No.4 and No.72 in the city of Chernihiv, in the northern part of Ukraine. Both kindergartens suffered severe damages by the Russian attacks, such as parts of the building, including the roof, were destroyed by missile attacks and most of the windows were blown away. It was not possible to open the kindergartens in time for the new school year because electricity and water supply systems were devastated and so were the heating systems. We are speeding up the renovation so that children can come back to their kindergartens to play with their friends. We are renewing the heating systems so that children can be warm and comfortable even when the severe winter arrives.

On the wall of an outdoor canopy that we have repaired, teachers of the kindergarten drew the Japanese national flag with a picture of a dove along with the Ukrainian national flag.
