Bangladesh, a land of natural beauty and resources, blessed with around 310 rivers. But recently, this blessing turned into bustle when the monsoon started in July. Heavy rainfall started throughout the country and flow of large-scale water leading to massive flooding situation in low lying areas of Northern, north-eastern and south-eastern districts. Now thousands of family is flood affected, lost their houses, livestock, struggling with contagious diseases waiting for support and relief.
According to the Needs Assessment Working Group of Bangladesh, over 60,000 families in low-lying areas are marooned in their home or community shelters. Due to heavy flood situation, 15 most affected districts are Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban, Feni, Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Gaibandha and Kurigram. Forecast says a continuation of 5 days or more flooding in these districts and a greater shock is coming up.
As a part of our emergency response, we are working with different donors to collect recovery fund including this project. All the funds collected for tackling the flood situation will be channeled towards recovery of flood victims. With your support and dedication of our 35000 pool of volunteers across the country, we will drive to respond to the urge of saving lives. We believe, it is much needed to act together in this natural disasters, so we could end the suffering of thousands families.
