Free Maternal Health Camp for Pregnant Women in Bhassarpura, Kasur

Good Thinkers Organization-Pakistan (GTO) organized a Free Maternal Health Camp in Bhassarpura, one of the most densely populated and economically marginalized areas of Kasur. The initiative aimed to ensure safe motherhood by providing access to essential healthcare services for pregnant women who otherwise lack such opportunities.

During the camp, 102 pregnant women received comprehensive medical checkups, including ultrasound examinations, consultations with a qualified gynecologist, and free medicines. This intervention was critical, as most women in the area live on less than $3 per day, making regular antenatal care inaccessible.

Due to poverty, low literacy levels, and limited health awareness, many women do not seek routine medical care during pregnancy. As a result, they face serious health risks and complications at the time of childbirth. Recognizing this gap, GTO not only provided medical services but also conducted awareness sessions on maternal health, emphasizing the importance of regular checkups, nutrition, hygiene, and early identification of complications.

The camp created a safe and supportive environment where women could openly discuss their health concerns and receive professional guidance. Many participants were receiving their first-ever ultrasound and antenatal consultation, marking a significant step toward safer pregnancies and healthier outcomes for both mothers and newborns.

This initiative reflects GTO’s continued commitment to improving maternal and child health in underserved communities. By bringing healthcare directly to vulnerable populations, we are helping reduce preventable risks and promoting informed health-seeking behavior.
