Emergency Preparedness Fund Donor Report

Summary: The safety and well-being of our animal residents remain at the heart of our mission. Given the escalating risk of wildfires across the Inland Northwest, we have launched an Emergency Preparedness Fund to ensure that our sanctuary is equipped to respond swiftly and effectively in the event of an emergency. With your generous support, we seek to raise $10,000 to acquire essential equipment such as transport kennels and containment solutions to keep our animals safe and secure during evacuations.

Current Status:

  • Total Goal: $10,000
  • Remaining: $8,505
  • Donors: 5
  • Monthly Donors: 0
  • Time Frame: 1 year

Challenge: The Inland Northwest is increasingly vulnerable to wildfires, posing a significant threat to our sanctuary and its inhabitants. We are committed to safeguarding the lives of our animal residents, staff, and community, but we urgently need to strengthen our emergency response capabilities. Our current resources are inadequate to meet the demands of a wildfire emergency, especially when it comes to the safe and swift evacuation of animals.

Solution: To address this growing challenge, we have established the Emergency Preparedness Fund. This initiative focuses on the acquisition of critical equipment and resources, including:

  • Specialized Transport Kennels: Providing a secure and comfortable environment for the animals during transportation.
  • Advanced Communication Tools: Ensuring seamless coordination between staff, volunteers, and emergency responders during evacuations.
  • Training for Staff and Students: Equipping our team with the skills needed for rapid, safe evacuations and relocations during emergencies.

Long-Term Impact:

  1. Lifesaving Protection: By acquiring this equipment, we ensure the safety and well-being of our animal residents during emergencies.
  2. Rapid Response: We can respond swiftly to escalating wildfire threats, reducing the risk to both animals and humans.
  3. Resilience in Adversity: These preparations will fortify our sanctuary against future challenges, creating a safer and more resilient environment.
  4. Ongoing Impact: The secure storage of evacuation equipment ensures that we are always prepared, and our efforts will inspire others in the wildlife sanctuary community to prioritize emergency preparedness.

Recent Updates:

  • Tree Removal: We have proactively removed hazardous trees from the property to reduce wildfire risks.
  • Annual Fire Inspection: Completed to ensure our sanctuary meets all fire safety regulations.
  • Winter Preparation Class for Staff and Students: Held to educate our team on emergency preparedness and essential response protocols.
  • Purchasing Essential Supplies: We have begun stocking necessary supplies to prepare for the winter season and any potential emergencies.

We deeply appreciate your continued support as we work to secure the safety of our sanctuary. Every contribution helps us take a step closer to ensuring the well-being of the animals and our staff, no matter what challenges arise. Thank you for being part of our mission.

How You Can Help:

  • Donate: Your contribution, no matter the size, directly supports the acquisition of the equipment we need.
  • Spread the Word: Share our mission with friends, family, and community members who care about wildlife safety.
  • Monthly Giving: Consider becoming a monthly donor to provide ongoing support for our emergency preparedness efforts.

We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress as we work toward our goal.

Thank you for your dedication to the safety of our sanctuary and its residents.
