Soleterre is actively working in Ukraine providing medical treatment, accommodation and psychological support to children with cancer and their families in Kyiv and Lviv. After the attacks, the priority now is to provide a safe shelter to children with cancer in Kyiv and Lviv, and evacuate those able to move in a safer area of Ukraine. It's also fundamental to ensure continuity in medical care, especially for the children undergoing chemotherapy treatment or wounded because of the attacks.
Since February 24th, 2022, Kyiv is under attack! Many civilians are on the run, the authorities advise those who are remaining to immediately find a safe shelter. For children with cancer it was a tragic day: surgical interventions were suspended, and also chemotherapy sessions had to be re-scheduled. Additionally, the influx of internally displaced persons highlighting the urgent need for housing and medical assistance, especially for wounded children.
The priority now is to provide a safe shelter for children and their families, and ensure the continuity in medical treatment for cancer. Soleterre has taken immediate action to: provide a safe shelter to children with cancer and to their families in Kyiv and Neslukhiv (near Lviv) and evacuate those able to move in a safer area of Ukraine closer to the eastern border; ensure continuity in high standard medical care, especially for the children undergoing chemotherapy treatment or wounded by war.
We also will guarantee flexible and immediate support to the 4 hospitals we cooperate with: the Institute of Cancer in Kyiv, the Neurosurgery Center in Kyiv, the Regional Pediatric Hospital in Lviv, and the Saint Nicholas Hospital in Lviv.
