Emergency Health in Myanmar

Since the February 2021 coup, Myanmar has faced significant disruptions in supply chains, rising costs, and loss of livelihoods, particularly in rural areas. These conditions have made healthcare unaffordable and inaccessible for many, increasing the need for initiatives like the MedAcross mobile clinic.

Project Activities and Results

• Mobile Clinics: In the last month, MedAcross managed 10 mobile clinics, visiting various remote villages in the Kawthaung area. A total of 188 patients were treated, including 161 females and 27 males. Most of the patients were elderly, between 50 and 80 years old, with many suffering from chronic conditions.
• Site Clinics: On clinic opening days, patients arrived between 9 am and 4 pm. A token system was used to manage the flow of patients, ensuring everyone received timely care. MedAcross provided two weeks of medication to each patient, with follow-up care offered as needed.
• Community Health Volunteers: MedAcross trained local volunteers in each village to assist with health prevention, manage chronic patients, and support through telemedicine consultations.

This project has already made a significant impact in improving access to healthcare for vulnerable populations in Kawthaung, and with continued support, it can reach even more people in need.
