Summary

At the moment, there are numerous cases of farmers-herders conflicts across Nigerian states, particularly within the South Western part of the country. These conflicts have primarily affected farmers and their surrounding communities of farming and endangered farming operations, food production, distribution and security of lives and property, thereby making farmers less productive by reducing standard of living among farmers.

Challenge

Repeated attacks of herdsmen on farms have primarily affected farmers and their surrounding communities of farming which has outrageously affected their well being, faming operations, endangered food production, distribution and security of lives and property, thereby making farmers less productive by reducing standard of living among farmers and the surrounding communities. Most of whom have been displaced from their abode as a result of the crisis and have been left stranded.

Solution

We intend to carefully select farmers from affected areas of Southwestern Nigeria (Ogun, Osun, Oyo, and Ekiti state) based on a case by case basis and assist them with foods and empower them after the crises by providing them with materials and fund needed to continue their operations as an encouragement and motivation over their possible loses to the incident. By so doing we hope to restore sustainable farming, maintain food security, reduce poverty and unemployment in these affected regions.

Long-Term Impact

The project will assist up to 1000 farmers across the affected states in Southwestern Nigeria in finding possible means of livelihood during a critical period as such, thereby encouraging a faster recovery model during crisis.
