This project will deliver life-saving emergency food and nutrition support to 2,000 internally displaced persons, helping vulnerable children, women, and the elderly survive the crisis and regain dignity
Benue State is facing a severe humanitarian crisis as over 500,000 people have been forced from their homes by ongoing violence and communal conflict. Displaced families live in overcrowded camps with limited food and services, and vulnerable groups, especially children, women, and the elderly, face acute hunger and malnutrition. While government and agencies like UNICEF provide some relief, urgent food support gaps remain
This project will directly address hunger among displaced families, by delivering immediate emergency food and nutrition support to those most affected in Benue State. By providing nutritious food baskets to vulnerable households, especially children, pregnant and lactating women, and the elderly, the project will reduce acute hunger, prevent malnutrition-related illness and deaths, and help stabilize families while longer-term recovery efforts continue.
By preventing acute hunger and malnutrition among displaced families in Benue State, this project will help protect children's health and development, reduce preventable illness and deaths, and strengthen household resilience during crisis. Access to adequate nutrition will enable families to better cope with displacement, support recovery efforts, and reduce long-term dependency on emergency aid as stability returns.
