Karamoja is facing a serious hunger and nutrition crisis, and vulnerable families need urgent support. According to the latest 2026 IPC analysis, approximately 473,000 people—32% of the analysed population in Karamoja—are experiencing Crisis or Emergency levels of acute food insecurity. This includes around 41,000 people already facing Emergency conditions.
Behind these numbers are real families struggling to find their next meal. Parents are facing difficult choices, children are going hungry, and households with limited resources are increasingly vulnerable to food shortages.
The situation is particularly concerning in districts such as Kaabong, Kotido, Karenga, Moroto and Nabilatuk, where the severity of food insecurity remains especially high. The latest assessment also indicates that conditions in some of these communities may remain difficult even as seasonal conditions change.
Children are among those at greatest risk. The 2026 IPC analysis estimates that approximately 122,100 children aged 6–59 months may experience acute malnutrition during the March 2026–February 2027 period, including about 30,600 children with severe acute malnutrition.
Good Cause Foundation Uganda is appealing to donors, organizations, foundations, businesses and compassionate individuals to help us respond.
Your contribution can help us provide emergency food packages to vulnerable families while supporting nutrition-focused interventions for children and other vulnerable household members.
But our goal is not only to respond to today's hunger. We also want to support families with seeds, agricultural skills, climate-resilient farming knowledge and livelihood opportunities so that communities can strengthen their ability to produce food and recover from repeated shocks.
Objectives:
Your donation can help put food on a family's table today while helping create the foundation for a more food-secure tomorrow.
Please donate, share this campaign with your network, or partner with Good Cause Foundation Uganda to help us reach families who desperately need support.
