Devastating flash floods and landslides have devastated communities in northern Nepal causing 903 deaths, 4247 missing people & huge loss of infrastructure & property. This project will help recover the dignity and hope of affected population by providing essential relief materials including food items, hygiene kits, basic medical supplies and psychosocial counselling. We are addressing both immediate humanitarian needs and the often-overlooked psychological impact of disaster on survivors.
Floods and landslides have devastated communities in Rasuwa and Nuwakot, causing 903 deaths, 4247 people missing, destroying homes, livelihoods, infrastructures and essential services. Survivors are facing food and shelter needs alongside grief, fear, anxiety and trauma. Children, women, older people and people with disabilities are particularly vulnerable, while access to mental health support is limited.
KOSHISH will provide essential relief supplies including food, hygiene and clothing in addition to psychosocial counselling to affected people. We will identify individuals experiencing acute distress, bereaved or separated families, older people, persons with disabilities, women and children, and people facing barriers to accessing general humanitarian services.
The project will support the basic physical needs and socio-emotional recovery of affected communities and strengthen their ability to cope with the current crisis. By providing essential relief materials and timely psychosocial support, KOSHISH will help reduce long-term trauma and distress and contribute to more resilient communities.
