Challenge

Thousands of families living in Chennai are now left homeless and stranded without the basic amenities of life. The overall death toll has risen to around 245 and the whereabouts of many families is still unknown. Chennai has been in darkness for the past few days due to safety measures. This incessant rain has adversely affected the transport and communication system as well. This has also caused severe hike in the prices of daily provisions.

Solution

Our project focuses on supporting the slum areas of Saidapet, whose living condition has become from bad to worse. Victim's immediate needs like food & water packets, Dress (saris, lungi, shirts, nighties, blouses, skirts, children wear), Toiletries (bathing and washing soaps/powder, towels, tooth brush and paste, buckets, mugs, dettol), Mats, bed sheets, pillow, Basic medicinal kit (fever, headache, diarohea pills, balm) will be provided to 2000 beneficiaries.

Long-Term Impact

The next relief package will be provided after 10/15 days) to 1000 families. This package will hold Groceries (Rice 10kg, 2kg oil, 1kg sugar, 1kg dhal), Cleaning materials (Brooms, Mops, buckets & mugs, floor cleanser, phenyl), Toiletries (bathing and washing soaps, towels, tooth brush and paste, buckets, mugs, hair oil, powder, combs).
