What a heat wave – I bet you are happy the temperatures are starting to cool off. This second week of summer has been a hot one. With temperatures in the mid to upper 90’s I am sure it’s been hard to think about the cold weather Oregonians face during the winter months. At HEAT Oregon, we know that as many as 1 in 4 Oregonians may need energy assistance during the winter months. This past heating season, October through May, HEAT Oregon helped nearly 10,000 people around Oregon with their heat and power.
Global Giving donors helped in serving some of those people last year. Since the start of the Global Giving Energy Assistance Project, donors have given more than $6,100 to help their neighbors in need of help with their heat and lights.
So as we continue through these summer months and enjoy both the hot and maybe more mild temperatures, be thinking of those that may need help next winter with their heat and power and give what you can to help. It takes about $300 to help one family struggling to keep their heat on. If Global Giving Donors could give just $25.00 per month, it could help one more family with their heat. Collectively we could help many families. Join us today and give what you can and enjoy the rest of our beautiful (and sometimes really HOT) summer.
