The Ebola outbreak continues to threaten vulnerable communities across Uganda, particularly in rural and border regions where access to healthcare services remains limited. During this reporting period, The Girl Child Foundation Uganda intensified efforts to strengthen community preparedness and response through public health awareness campaigns and community engagement activities.
Working alongside local leaders and community volunteers, we delivered critical information on Ebola prevention, early symptom identification, and the importance of timely reporting. These efforts have helped address misinformation and encouraged safer health practices among community members.
Frontline health workers remain at significant risk due to shortages of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Through donor support, we have advocated for increased protection and preparedness measures while mobilizing communities to support prevention efforts.
Community dialogues, awareness meetings, and information-sharing sessions have contributed to increased vigilance and improved understanding of Ebola transmission and prevention. Families are becoming more proactive in seeking medical attention and adhering to recommended health guidelines.
While important progress has been made, continued support is needed to expand outreach activities and strengthen local response systems. We are deeply grateful to our donors and partners whose generosity enables us to protect vulnerable populations and reduce the spread of Ebola.
