The Girl Child Foundation Uganda remains committed to protecting vulnerable communities as Uganda continues to battle recurring Ebola outbreaks. The current outbreak has placed immense pressure on already strained healthcare systems, particularly in rural and border communities where access to health services remains limited.
Through the support of our generous donors and partners, we have intensified community-based prevention and awareness efforts aimed at reducing transmission and protecting lives. Our teams have been working closely with local leaders, schools, healthcare facilities, and community volunteers to disseminate accurate health information, combat misinformation, and promote early reporting of suspected cases.
A major challenge continues to be the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for frontline health workers who serve as the first line of defense against the disease. Limited access to protective supplies increases their risk of infection and threatens the continuity of essential healthcare services. Support received through this project is helping mobilize resources for PPE distribution, hand hygiene materials, and community sensitization campaigns.
Additionally, public awareness sessions have reached vulnerable households with life-saving information on Ebola prevention, symptom recognition, and safe health-seeking practices. These interventions are contributing to improved community vigilance and stronger preparedness against further spread of the virus.
Despite progress, significant needs remain. Continued support is critical to strengthen healthcare response capacity, protect frontline workers, and expand outreach efforts to high-risk communities. On behalf of the communities we serve, we extend our sincere gratitude to all donors and supporters whose generosity is helping save lives and build resilience during this public health emergency.
Together, we can help stop the spread of Ebola and protect Uganda’s most vulnerable populations.
