This project aims to provide emergency Ebola prevention, awareness, and response support for vulnerable communities in Uganda. Many individuals face barriers to accessing healthcare due to stigma, discrimination, and fear, putting them at higher risk during health emergencies. The project will ensure they receive inclusive health information, protection materials, and referral to safe healthcare services.
During Ebola outbreaks, vulnerable groups often face limited access to accurate information, healthcare services, and emergency support. Communities in Uganda are especially affected due to stigma and discrimination in health systems, which discourages them from seeking timely care. This increases their exposure to infection risks and worsens health outcomes.
This project will reduce Ebola risk among vulnerable communities by providing inclusive awareness, prevention materials, and access to safe health services. It will improve early detection, timely referrals, and community education through trained peer educators. Overall, it strengthens protection, reduces exposure, and ensures no one is left behind in Ebola response efforts.
The long-term impact of this project is a safer, more informed, and better-prepared community that can respond effectively to Ebola and other public health emergencies. It will strengthen trust between marginalized groups and health systems, improve access to inclusive healthcare, and reduce stigma in service delivery. Over time, the project will build community resilience through trained peer educators, sustained awareness, and stronger prevention practices.
