Challenge

Years of conflict, displacement, mining-related violence and extreme poverty have left thousands of women and children in northeastern DR Congo highly vulnerable. Today, the growing Ebola threat is exposing over 2,500 displaced families, widowed young mothers and traumatized children to new health risks without adequate care or protection. This project will provide emergency Ebola awareness, psychosocial care and basic relief support to help over 7,000 vulnerable people survive this crisis.

Solution

This project will provide Ebola prevention awareness, psychosocial care, community protection services and emergency relief assistance to over 2,500 displaced families, widowed young mothers, vulnerable girls and traumatized children in northeastern DR Congo. More than 7,000 vulnerable people will receive lifesaving support through community outreach, trauma counseling, hygiene support and protection activities to reduce fear, health risks and the impact of the Ebola emergency.

Long-Term Impact

This project will help vulnerable communities in northeastern DR Congo reduce Ebola risks and recover from trauma through emergency awareness campaigns, psychosocial care, protection services and basic relief assistance. Over 7,000 displaced people, widowed young mothers, vulnerable girls and children will gain better health awareness, emotional support and community protection, helping families become safer, stronger and more resilient beyond the current Ebola emergency.
