Turkey recently experienced a devastating earthquake that left over 42,000 people were lost, countless families displaced and in desperate need of assistance. We are raising funds to provide emergency relief to those affected by this tragedy.
On Feb 6th, 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, causing the loss of over 42000 people, leaving countless others without homes or basic necessities in the midst of frigid winter conditions. This natural disaster has devastated the lives of displaced families yet again, demolishing their homes and leaving them in dire circumstances. Mothers and infants in emergency situations face a range of challenges, including limited access to basic needs such as food, water and medicine.
JISP is proposing the Mother and Baby Corner to provide specialized support to mothers and their infants in the aftermath of the earthquake in Elbistan. The Mother and Baby corner will ensure a safe and secure space within the container camp where mothers can breastfeed, receive essential supplies such as baby formula, diapers, healthy food. Additionally, the program will provide counseling and psychosocial support to mothers to help them cope with the stress and trauma of the earthquake.
At JISP, we collaborate with local organizations to provide critical support to mothers and their infants in the aftermath of the earthquake. This helps to prevent the increase of malnutrition, morbidity and mortality rates. We also carry out psychosocial support activities, with the aim of creating resilient communities, promoting emotional stability and wellness.
