Aid shipments provide ongoing medical support

VIDA USA ships medical aid to several countries in Latin America. Peru, Ecuador, Haiti and Chile primarily.
Recent floods in Peru have directed several shipments to aid in the immediate crisis. Yet our support continues in Chile with container shipments to our local partner FEDES.
FEDES than distributes the supplies to points of need throughout the country.
VIDA is preparing an additional shipment of emergency medical aid, all items specifically requested by FEDES.

VIDA USA Preparing Shipment to Chile!

Hello supporters of VIDA!
We thank you for your support as we continue to work with our partner FEDES to aid the impoverished suburbs of Santiago as they still are struggling to not only fight poverty but to overcome the devastation from earthquakes. The poor healthcare infrastructure has only been made worse by these natural disasters.
Sadly, Chile is currently suffering from the worst forest fires in its history that is devastating rural communities which were still struggling from the destruction caused by the quakes. Over 750,000 acres have burned taking life, destroying thousands of homes and livelihoods. One region that is being impacted particularly hard is Maule, a community that VIDA USA has sent medical equipment over the past few years.
Fierce winds and smoldering ash have complicated the challenge of containing the blazes, which on Wednesday destroyed the small hamlet of Santa Olga in the Maule region. VIDA is currently working with FEDES to direct a portion of the supplies and equipment of our upcoming shipment to benefit this region.

Podiatry Students Volunteer in Santiago

VIDA supplied four students travelling from Oakland for a one week medical mission to Santiago. The students who are studying at Samuel Merritt University School of Podiatry will be volunteering at various small clinics in the cities most impoverished neighborhood. VIDA supplied the students with a range of podiatric and medical supplies to treat patients issues related to the foot, ankle and lower extremities. This includes supports, braces and wraps that can help alleviate years of patient suffering. Also, the students will be carrying six artificial legs that will be donated to an appropriate facility that can properly fit the patients.
VIDA is in the process of fundraising for a 40' container to be sent to our long-time partner FEDES which works throughout greater Santiago.
