Project Report for Emergency Cholera Response in Nigeria Project.
Zamfara State, Nigeria, recently experienced a deadly cholera outbreak affecting Bukkuyum and Gummi Local Government Areas. Within a few days, over 180 suspected cases and at least 7 deaths were reported, putting thousands of vulnerable rural residents especially women and children at high risk.
In response, Humanity and Community Development Foundation (HUCOMDEF) designed the Emergency Cholera Response in Nigeria Project to provide urgent life-saving support. The planned interventions included the provision of essential medical supplies, access to clean and safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene support, and community awareness campaigns aimed at preventing further spread of the disease. The project was intended to directly benefit more than 5,000 people in the affected communities.
However, due to limited fundraising, the project did not reach its financial target. A total of $80 was raised, which was insufficient to commence any planned activities. As a result, no on-ground intervention has been conducted to date.
Despite this challenge, HUCOMDEF remains committed to responding to cholera and other public health emergencies. The project is still open for donations, and additional support will enable immediate action to save lives and protect vulnerable communities.
We sincerely thank all donors who contributed and express our deep appreciation to GlobalGiving for providing the platform and continued support. Your solidarity and generosity are vital, and we remain hopeful that with further assistance, this critical intervention can be implemented.
