Heavy fighting broke out in Sudan in mid-April 2023. The already tense humanitarian situation is coming to a head. Millions of people are on the run and the worst famine crisis Sudan has ever seen is looming. Aktion Deutschland Hilft's alliance organizations are providing aid to people both within Sudan and in the countries of refuge. We provide humanitarian aid and alleviate the suffering of the people affected.
Hundreds of people have died and thousands are injured. Agreed ceasefires have been repeatedly interrupted. For half of Sudan's war-torn population, every single day is a struggle to feed themselves and their families. Agriculture, on which most people in Sudan depend for their livelihood, is practically idle. Many people can barely afford food due to rising inflation. Malnutrition and undernourishment are therefore increasing significantly.
Aktion Deutschland Hilft's alliance organizations are providing aid to people both within Sudan and in the countries of refuge. Many of the aid organizations have been active in the regions for many years and are also strongly networked through local partner organizations. They distribute life-saving emergency food and foodstuffs, provide medical aid and supply medicines. They are also strengthening healthcare provision for pregnant women and children.
People affected by natural disasters or humanitarian crises have the right to solidarity and help! Together we save lives and give people in need a perspective for a self-determined and free life.
