The McKinney Fire devastated communities around Klamath River in 2022. This disaster did not qualify for federal assistance. This makes the challenges faced by affected individuals even more difficult, especially the seniors in this area. This request targets critical needs of the fire survivors as well as supports the continuation of Disaster Case Management services needed for long-term recovery. The McKinney Fire has left many survivors in need of support to rebuild and recover.
In the McKinney area, which is both rural and isolated, proximity to major towns or cities with service providers is lacking. This presents challenges in locating assistance for infrastructure work and construction related to recovery efforts. Obtaining timely cost estimates and finding willing providers remain significant concerns, compounded by the rural nature of the area. The majority of properties in the area lack basic infrastructure such as power, water, and functioning septics.
Recovery from wildfire is a lengthy and complicated process. Based on the geographical area of the McKinney Fire, long term investment in Disaster Case Management is essential. These donations will provide relief for survivors of the McKinney Fire and assist with the continuation of disaster case management services needed for long-term recovery.
This funding will support long-term recovery efforts and help the Klamath River communities recover and support survivors long term recovery goals.
