Hunger and starvation are real and escalating to unprecedetef level with about 40 million(20%) of about 200 million people in Nigeria.Sadly, that's huge.
The food security crisis was triggered primarily by the sudden subsidy removal on premium motor spirit(petrol) jumping the cost of energy to about 500%.Right now the cost of petrol is about one USD per liter, that's about 4 USD per gallon.
The subsidy removal with its shockwave triggered higher inflation and cost of living coupled with currency devaluation. The costs of transportation ,goods and services scaled up adjusting to economic vibrations and turbulence.
In addition to this sad worsening and prevailing economic situation, bandits and herdsmen started tremendous attacks on farmers, kidnapping and killing farmers on their farms. The food production became affected and declined .
So the causes of hunger and starvation are due to loss of farms to bandits, high costs of transporting food and movement of the public, inflation and fear in the land.
To maintain liveliihoods and combat food security crisis,EARN is responding with this projrct to train 50 youths and equip these young and able youth on farming for more food production. ..
EARN needs your donation to get this ptoject off the ground to avert serious malnutrition in children and starvation..
