Nigeria is facing an unprecedented hunger crisis with over 43 million people projected to be food insecure in 2025 including 16 million children.
The situation is dire especially in the North , middle belt,Southsouth and Southeast of Nigeria where arned terrorists and bandits have taken over the forests and farmlands. The farmers have abandoned farming due to fears of terrorist attacks and killings.
But able youths are confronting the terrorists and bandits particularly in the South where EARN 's project is located to empower them to farm.
Nigeria was ranked second poorest in food affordability globally by the Institute of Development Studies in United Kingdom. In July 2025, The United Nations reported that nearly 31 million Nigerians were experiencing acute food insecurity.
