We invite you to join our herd and support our community initiatives in the Makgadikgadi region of Botswana, where elephants and humans are in competition for resources. By empowering communities with knowledge, fostering coexistence, and building sustainable livelihoods, we can pave the way for a future where both elephants and humans thrive.
Humans and elephants both require space and natural resources. The heart of our mission lies in fostering a peaceful relationship between local communities and the African savannah elephants that call the Makgadikgadi home. The survival of rural communities alongside this iconic species depends on the ability for them to coexist.
Living with Elephants Workshops focus on safety awareness and practices when living with elephants. Through interactive workshops, we teach essential skills to reduce the risk of conflict, promoting the safety of both humans and elephants. By promoting alternative income sources, such as eco-tourism & handicrafts, communities can build sustainable livelihoods, reducing their dependence on practices that may lead to conflict with elephants.
Partnering with rural communities we work with them to tackle various aspects of the human-elephant conflict issue, from safety to livelihoods, creating a comprehensive and effective strategy for longterm impact.
