Fundraiser supports work of Mahouts

By Jonathan Berry | Project Manager

Thanks for your ongoing support for our project here in Thailand.
Over the past few months in Huay Pakoot we have held fundraisers to boost our funding for the project.   Our fundraisers included a dedicated activity night where we challenged the mahouts English skills and tug of war.  Lots of fun and laughs had by all whilst raising finds for a great cause.
Thanks to all of you who donated.
Through the donations we have been able to increase the support that each of our mahouts and elephants are receiving each month.

We have also been able to add an additional 2 bull elephants to the program. These elephants do not have the option to work in tourism due to their temprement.  However, we can now support Buhndi and Boon Noi to live happy lives in the forest.  Their mahouts Chat and Moo are very grateful for all the support. We aim to pair the two new additions with some of the existing herd to increase their social time.
Other elephants part of the program such as Boon Choo have displayed outstanding improvements in behaviour. After joining the program earlier this year he is now showing identical positive behaviours to those of a wild elephant. He is very confident with exploring the forest and foraging for his own food.
This has taken lots of pressure off of his mahouts as he is now much easier to take care of.
Your support is so appreciated in continuing and expanding this project.
We thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to keeping you updates on the progress of the herd.
