A Place Where Joy Returns

By Yeung Lok Yi | Specialist

At 80 years old, Mrs. Lee began attending Eden's Day Care Center in early 2024 after being referred through Taiwan's long-term care services. From the moment she arrived, the welcoming environment, engaging activities, and warm smiles from the staff made her feel at ease, opening the door to a new chapter in her life.

Adjusting to a new routine was not easy. Living with dementia, Mrs. Lee often became anxious when she could not find her belongings and sometimes believed that someone had taken them. Rather than correcting or arguing with her, Eden's staff responded with patience, compassion, and understanding. Working closely with her family, they found the best ways to comfort and support her through these moments.

As time passed, Mrs. Lee gradually grew more comfortable at the center. What began as attending for only half a day soon became full-day participation. Today, she happily tells her family, "I want to come here every day!"

Kind-hearted and always willing to help, Mrs. Lee has become a cheerful presence at the center. She enjoys wiping tables, sweeping the floor, washing dishes, and caring for her fellow participants. A regular daily routine, nutritious meals, meaningful activities, and warm social connections have not only brought greater stability to her physical and emotional well-being, but have also eased the caregiving responsibilities of her family. Her cognitive assessments have even shown encouraging improvement.

Seeing Mrs. Lee smile, sing with others, and actively participate in daily activities reminds us that the right support can transform lives.
