Rekindling the STARS (Students Taking Active Responsibility in Society) program
On the 28th of October, we had the first STARS seminar session for the year 2023/2024, titled, "Who Am I?" - an exploration of the concept of identity through the lens of anthropology. This presentation aimed at fostering reflection, appreciation for cultural diversity, and self-expression among young girls. The facilitator emphasized the need to understand one's identity and the significance of celebrating each one’s uniqueness.
Impact and Initiative - Solidarity Saturday
The next Saturday, the 10 girls who participated paid it forward by presenting the same session to approximately 15 girls from underprivileged communities within the Lekki environs. Leading up to the presentation date, they diligently worked in teams and groups to prepare all the necessary materials for the session. This experience has sparked a beautiful chain reaction of empowerment and knowledge sharing.
Looking ahead, we anticipate doubling our impact so that many more girls from underprivileged backgrounds and communities will benefit from this program.
