This program was organized and executed by the girls of the Elara Study centre. In their quest to contribute positively to the community, the girls identified the need to provide the residents of different poor communities in Lagos State with clothing, household items and food during the Christmas celebration.
This idea was born out while interacting with the residents of the community with the aim of providing basic human needs during the festive season. The girls involved their family, friends, and peers in gaining the resources.
The girls grouped themselves and assigned each group to visit a specific community, where the gifts were distributed. 7 families with a total number of 32 people benefited from the program.
The exercise, the climax of solidarity Saturday, allowed the girls to participate more actively in serving the communities and practicing the leadership skills learned from Student Taking Active Responsibility in the Society (STARS) program. This increased social awareness and responsibility among the girls.
