The "Eid for All" project is dedicated to ensuring an inclusive celebration of Eid Al Adha for displaced individuals residing in Beqaa, Lebanon. By emphasizing the values of inclusivity, empathy, and compassion, this project aims to create a sense of unity and joy during the festive season and ensures that poor families have access to nutritious food and can experience the spiritual significance of the occasion.
Given the soaring cost of food and the plummeting value of the Lebanese pound, the celebration of Eid Al Adha has become difficult. Lebanon is struggling with an unprecedented financial crisis that the World Bank says is of a scale usually associated with full-scale wars. The currency has lost more than 90% of its value. Around 89% of the population lives in poverty. In particular, the price of imported red meat has increased fivefold, with some cuts costing more than the monthly minimum wage.
This year, URDA will be implementing the Qurbani project though the distribution of meat portions to the most vulnerable families. Each meat portion is approximately 2Kg. Moreover, we will also be bringing joy to the hearts of children by providing them with clothes and toys. Rechargeable fans will also be provided as an Eid gift to vulnerable families. Through this project, we aim to show impoverished families solidarity and togetherness this Adha.
This initiative will feed a massive number of underprivileged families living under the line of poverty in Lebanon. The idea behind our project is that donating and supplying needy people with meat and gifts goes beyond nutrition, it represents safety, hope, dignity, and solidarity. YOU can be part of the positive change by participating and raising awareness about the topic. It is beyond important to remind needy people and the world that we are together.
