With a population of almost 106 million, over 32 million Egyptians live below the poverty line (1), representing a 27.9% poverty rate (2). This stark reality,compounded by low incomes and soaring food prices, fuels widespread food insecurity. The World Health Organization (WHO) identifies Egypt as one of the 36 countries responsible for 90% of global malnutrition.
The monthly feeding program is an advanced program which addresses the four pillars of food insecurity identified by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which focus on ensuring regular access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food that meets the nutritional needs and preferences of those eligible.
