We are raising scholarships for 130 children to get through the 2025/2026 academic year. Children who live in rural communities are often marginalised and do not have access to quality education and learning opportunities. By providing scholarships and learning centres in local communities, Bramble removes the access barrier and enables young people in rural areas to learn. This project aims to raise a generation of creative young people, who think critically and enjoy solving problems.
Children and youth who live in rural communities are often marginalised and do not have access to quality education and learning opportunities. According to a recent report by UNESCO, there are about 20 million children in Nigeria who do not go to school. A World Bank report in 2018 says that among those who complete primary education, only about 10 per cent of children can read, write or do basic arithmetic. This project will help young people in local communities to develop essential skills.
By providing alternative learning spaces in local communities, Bramble removes the access barrier and enables young people in rural/marginalized communities to learn. Beyond academic and skills prowess, we aim to nurture a generation of creative young people, who think critically and enjoy solving problems.
In the long term, the project will contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty and inequity. In three years, the local community will have a multi-positive transformation. By providing accessible learning environments in rural communities, children and youth who previously lacked educational opportunities will now have access to quality education. This can lead to improved literacy rates, enhanced cognitive skills, and increased opportunities for further education or skilled employment.
