Greetings from IDEA!
As you are aware IDEA is supporting very poor and deserving children through our educational sponsorship program. Presently 293 children are in IDEA's sponsorship program. Most of them are receiving aid from last 4 to 5 years.
IDEA sponsorship program is a great support to children like Akash, who can't afford education. You will be really happy to read about him and understand how he has benefitted because of your support.
Akash, a 17 year old teenager, has faced several ill fortunate episodes in his life by now. His parents separated when he was only 10 years of age. His father was an alcoholic and therefore domestic violence was always at its peak. His mother was not only insulted but was also beaten severely at regular intervals. Akash’s father died due to long term sickness. Akash and his mother, Smita moved to stay with their maternal family. Her 3 member family was living in a one-room rented house. An addition of 2 people under the same roof was not less than an untold burden. Smita lost her left hand in an unfortunate accident but she did not give up. She worked as a domestic help for years to support her only child. The affirmative sequel of such disturbing set of events resulted in building Akash a responsible son. Akash understood at an early age that he needs to stand up not only for himself but also his mother. But their was a hindrance in his desired journey to declare himself self-sustained. This obstacle was a conflux of economic problems hence pertaining to become a stumbling block in front of his education. Without knowledge and skill, there was no scope of a better tomorrow.
IDEA Foundation hence decided to offer a helping hand to Akash through our Sponsorship Program. Under the same, we ensured Akash’s college fee was submitted and also supported him in kind with college bag, stationery, books and notebooks. We are succoring and extending our aid to Akash since last 2 years. He scored 78% in 11th grade and is presently pursuing commerce in 12th from a College in Pune. He is also working part-time in a good firm since 2 years. He operates computer and handles currency exchange in the company. Akash’s boss is pleased with his hard work and has recommended Akash to work in their Dubai branch office. Currently, Akash receives a salary of 4000 rupees in a month from his job. He utilizes his pay by managing his other college expenditures and gives the rest to his mother. Akash doesn’t believe in the concept of breaks or holidays! After he returns from his office, he devotes all his time in studying. His mother wants him to study further and complete Bachelors and then Masters in Commerce.
Due to his hectic day to day life routine, he has never attended skill development sessions provided by IDEA Foundation. His mother plays an active role and attends all these sessions in his place. Smita received “Best Motivating Parent” award by IDEA Foundation for her motivation and support.
Akash believes that IDEA Foundation has been a motivating factor in his life and both Akash and Smita are thankful to the foundation. We take immense pride in extending our aid to the needful and talented students in all our possible means. We seek your help to support us so that we can continue helping students like Akash.
On behalf of IDEA , I would like to express my gratitude to all those who are contributng towards this great initiative.Thank you very much for your generous contributions. Please continue to suppot IDEA.
