Dear friends & supporters,
Happy New year 2021 from IDEA Foundation!
Hope the new year will bring good news and relief fom this global pandemic and we will get back to normal life as before!
The COVID-19 induced lockdowns created an economic crisis globally. It disrupted the livelyhood of many of our beneficiaries who were already facing difficulties to afford education and wellbeing of their children. As an NGO, we work closely with many of the marginilised communities since decades but the challnges we face now are unexpected and unanticiapted.
Infact, the pandemic has been a phase of learning for all of us.
Taking proactive steps, we have been providing food, rations, and hygiene kits to the poor and the needy as the COVID 19 gripped the World.
Anyways, now we are focussing on our educational support to our children under our sponsorship program. These childen cannot afford to step back as only education can bring them out of the current situation. We have been reimbursing the school fees of our sponsored children all these years, but this year we have paid their fees in advance so that they will not get dopped out of their colleges and schools. We have also arranged stationary shops near their communities to provide school/college materials to the children.
As people are staying indoors with less resources, mental illness is on the rise among these vulnerable communities. So we are giving more importance to our life skill sessions too and we are taking frequent virtual sessions for our children under sponsorship. We have covered many important topics to keep the children motivated and encouraged during these testing times.
The topics covered under life skill sessions are Leadership skill, human attitude, Socialization, Conflict resolution ,Team work, Gender discrimination, how to focus on life, Assertive communication skills, Goal setting, resume/cover letter writing , how to face interview, Child rights, How to be mentally strong, Self-esteem, Human rights, domestic violence etc.
Logistics and resources have been a challenge, but we are able to successfully intervene as there was always a connect to these communities and childrenthrough our projects and programs.
We request your generous contribution and continuous support as we are trying our best to continue with our vision and mission to provide equal opportunity to people living in difficult situations.
Thank you !
