Dear friends,

Greetings from IDEA!

Hope you are safe! Team IDEA thanks you for your continued support to this project. Thousands of underprivileged students could pursue their high school and college education in India because of your contribution. Over the years they have been benefitted immensely by our sponsorship programme, receiving monetary and non-monetary support. Life skill sessions, English classes, career counselling, and exposure visits which have enhanced their personality.

You will be happy to know that even during this ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown in India, our sponsorship programme is still going on virtually. In March this year when the lockdown was announced, we decided that this must not stop the education of our bright students.

We started reaching out to them through phone calls and Whatsapp to make them aware of the ongoing pandemic, our team explained to them the importance of good hygiene, hand wash, and social distancing to keep themselves healthy and safe during this time.

Our team has worked very hard to develop different online learning modules for the students and accordingly the team has been conducting sessions on topics like how to take care of your self during the lockdown, how to keep oneself physically and mentally fit, how to study during the lockdown. Besides the team has been conducting regular sessions on various life skill sessions like anger management, stress management, motivation, etc.

The students are also enjoying fun activities like making posters to create coronavirus awareness, they are also shooting awareness videos and sharing with their friends. Many students are utilizing this time to search for information related to higher studies and career options. There is an increasing demand for career guidance sessions during this lockdown since many students are apprehensive about finding jobs post the lockdown.

Parents of these students when contacted have given positive feedback, they said that even though their families are struggling due to loss of livelihood opportunities, their children are showing maturity during these troubled times. The parents are happy that because of our gender equality sessions, boys are also helping their mothers with household chores along with their sisters.

IDEA is also helping students and their families affected by the coronavirus lockdown, by making bank transfers so that the families who have lost jobs during this lockdown can use the money to buy groceries, medicines, hygiene kits, and other essentials. We have helped hundreds of families so far, many are migrant families who would have risked their lives if not for our timely help.

All students under this project are from underprivileged families, especially struggling to make ends meet during this lockdown, but that has not deterred their spirit and they are hopeful of a good future! They need your support even more now, please continue donating to this project!
