Greetings!
We are so excited to bring to you this report! As you know IDEA helps hundreds of young students complete their higher education through its Educational Sponsorship programme for needy and deserving students from various cities in India. The students receive monetary support like reimbursement of school/ college fee, stationery, school bags, and books. They also benefit from various life skill sessions, career counselling, personality development sessions, spoken English classes, and Exposure visits. Recently we conducted many interesting sessions for the students -
Youth Festival
A Youth Festival was conducted for our students to provide them much needed refreshment before their exams which also served as an opportunity to showcase their hidden talents. Apart from encouraging higher education, another goal of ours is to empower underprivileged youth through personality development programme and make them ‘change-makers’ in their community. To achieve this, we conduct regular life skill sessions to enhance the organizing, problem-solving and leadership skills of the youths thereby making them true ‘change-makers’ of the community they live in. To encourage our young friends, we felicitated all change-makers for their excellent work so far. The event ended with motivational speeches following by cheerful singing and dancing!
Parents Meeting
Parent’s actions and attitudes have a major impact on youth’s all-round development. Parents and other adults understand that they play important roles in youth’s lives, but they sometimes find it challenging to build and maintain effective communication in order to stay “connected” with their children consistently, so it is necessary to ensure effective engagement of parents in youth’s developmental process. To achieve this, we conducted a parent meeting of our Youth Club students where we interacted with parents about the issues and challenges being faced by their sons and daughters. We discussed with them the need for dialogue with their children. We also asked the adults about the possible issues and challenges facing they are facing and so they (Parents) can be our partner in this Youth Development initiative.
Best Out of waste competition
Many students participated in the ‘Best out of Waste’ competition. The objective of the competition was to create a love for the environment by making the best out of waste with the help of recyclable things and to encourage them to be innovative. The students used their imagination and creativity to make innovative and useful things. Students used plastic bottles, waste boxes, newspapers, old CDs, etc. All these things which are considered waste in our day to day life were used in a constructive manner and a variety of things were made from them. Students made Pen stands, Book Binding, Paper bangs, Spectacles from waste boxes, photo frames, plastic and paper flowers were artistically made. The criteria for the competition were presentation, use of material, innovation and overall effect.
